Contract Description:
This contract continues implementation and mitigation under the Kootenai River Operational Impacts Project to restore terrestrial habitats, identify potential restoration areas, seek opportunities with private landowners for enhancements, and mitigate wildlife impacts resulting from the operations of Libby Dam as documented within the Kootenai River Operational Loss Assessment.  In addition, this project overall goal is to work with BPA in an effort to complete full mitigation to offset the 35,571 acres of functional habitat loss from Libby Dam, while prioritizing mitigation projects targeting riparian/wetland-dependent habitats and species within the 50-year floodplain of the Kootenai River.  As of June 1, 2019, this contract will incorporate the Objectives and Strategies previously approved (2012 NPCC Project Reviews), undertaken and implemented under the Tribe's Reconnect Kootenai River with Historic Floodplain Project #200200800.
